If you know a little about me, then you will know that I am a sucker for red lips.  Red lips offer a certain glam and sex appeal without overdoing it.  The Holiday season is also my favorite time of year to rock out a red pout.  Fall and Winter months truly are my go-to time of year to strut my stuff in a luscious Candy Apple Red Lip.
Picture
Now, if you take a peek into my makeup collection I have over 25 different red lipsticks and lip shades.  Overkill?  Maybe!  But, I have a wide range of lip colors to suit all seasons and styles.  When I first received BA STAR's Holiday Red lip pencil in the mail, at first glance it has a kind of gold metallic sheen to the pencil.   I had wondered how that would transfer color wise on my lips and wasn't sure if my lips would look metallic or not.  After swatching it on my hand, I noticed that there was no gold sheen transfer and that the red color was just a bold red tone in a matte/gloss form.  There was no shimmer, no metallic or no glitter - it had a light glossy look but was completely matte in tone.  I couldn't not wait to get my lips covered in this gorgeous red shade and immediately put it on and tried it out.
Picture
BA Star's Holiday Red lip pencil ($8.75USD) is definitely... The Business.  It offers you full color payoff and coverage in just one swipe and application was definitely a breeze since the pencil allowed you to both line your lips as well as apply the color.  Like a lot of red lipsticks and lip colors on the market, it did offer a nice stain, so it did give me at least 6-8 hours of wear with minimal reapplying.  It is not kiss proof and I did lose some color with some fading, but it was nice to know that I wasn't going to have red lipstick all over the place.  Some of it did transfer onto my straws and glass as well as onto my husband but I was still amazed with the color payoff that was left behind on my lips.  This lip pencil is more on the matte side (though it has a soft gloss to it) so if you want glossy lips, be sure to add lip gloss or glaze over for that extra "show stopping" appeal.  To sharpen, you must use a dual sided sharpener, one that can sharpen a larger pencil.  This gorgeous lip shade is the perfect "Runway" Red.

The product includes the following ingredients:
  • Isopolybutene, Castor Oil, Ozokenite, Carnuaba, Candellina Wax, Beeswax, Petrolium, Buty Stearate, Cetyk Ricinoleate, Vitamin E, Precpylparaben, Metabylparaben, BHT, Macadamia Nut Oil, Octyl Palmiate
  • May Contain: Iron Oxides, Ti02,D&C Red 27 D&C Red 30 D&C Red 28

Now - I ranted and raved about the awesome color and pigmentation of this color, but didn't talk about how moisturizing it is.  Being that it lends towards a more matte lip shade, I expected it to be a bit on the drying site, as most matte lip colors are.  I was very impressed with how moisturized my lips felt, even after several hours of use and a few reapplications here and there.  I have been using this red pencil on it's own, without a base and just my normal lip balm beneath it and I just love how it feels on my lips.  When I first applied it, I thought I felt a slight tingling sensation on my lips initially, but after using the lip pencil on several different occasions, I guess that it was just me because I didn't feel it again.  After application and removing the color, I had expected that my lips would feel a little dry - but that was not the case.  This is definitely a great color for long wear since it keeps your lips reasonably hydrated and it's not drying.
Picture
Now, not all reds work well on all skin tones.  I know this personally, but I have also assisted many with pairing their skin tone with the right color that works for them.  This red pencil is definitely a great color for most skin tones.  For lighter complexions, since it is a bright true red, it will definitely lend for "Snow White" status, bringing out the porcelain look in the skin tone and for darker tones like myself, this is a perfect red to use because it doesn't have orange undertones or overly blue undertones that will make it difficult for some people to wear.  I have to say - I'm impressed with BA Stars Holiday Red lip pencil.  This is a glam color at its finest and lends to be such an awesome shade to use year round.

I just realized that I posted a few videos and I didn't follow through with posting them here as well, so I'm playing catch up.  This video was posted on October 18th, 2013. :)  I unfortunately do not have the names listed of the products I used... but they are all stated in the video. ;)

Since my first fashion post on YouTube in 2010 I have been told by many that plus sized gals must be dressed a certain way or that I can't pair this with that.  Honestly, while I understand the concept of what works for some may not work with others (i.e. putting me in spandex pants with a tube top) and I also know about body shapes and pairing outfits, I also believe that a person's Fashion is their STATEMENT.  Be it a little bit quirky or different from others, it's what makes them unique and an individual.

This past Friday I attended a Ceremony for my Husband.  #proudwifestatus  And original had planned to use a pair of wedged heels... but knowing I was going to have all three of my sons with me and that running after them was pretty much on the agenda, I wanted to be comfortable.  I think that platform/wedged flip flops are super cute, dressy and stylish enough to pull off for such an occasion and I have the luxury of being comfortable.  I love these so much, I have 2 different types of pairs from this brand... one with sparkles on the straps and one without.
Picture
I say that you can "forget the rules" because I have been told on many occasions that wearing flip flops is one of the biggest fashion faux pas.  Let's face it, here in Hawaii... everyone uses them because they are not only comfy but readily available everywhere.  I think they are cute if paired with the right outfit and definitely help to make an overall statement with whatever you decide to wear with it.

With a simple and sleek knee length pencil skirt and a cute open shoulder top - anything is possible.
I also love that this outfit (with a pair of pumps or heels would be a great work ensemble.

I especially love that this gorgeous necklace really gives the whole outfit a pop of glam.  When I first seen this necklace on Shoplately, I thought to myself... "I must have that!"  I'm glad that I decided to get it because it is dressy but yet can be paired with anything casual for a touch of sophistication.

Want to add a little more glam to a similar outfit?  Use a pencil skirt that is calf high - omg... show stopper!

I'm a little behind on posting this because this week has been seriously CRAY... but I wanted to share anyway.  If you have watched my Makeup Palette Collection video (here), you would have seen that I have both the UD Glinda and Theodora Palettes from Urban Decay.  I ordered them online from Sephora (let's face it, I love the points. lol).  So much to my surprise and excited... I received an email the other day with the note that they were discounted.
I paid $49.00 (full price) for these palettes in March I believe (don't quote me on that. lol) and absolutely love them.  Much to my amazement, here they are discounted. lol  But that's okay - I digress.  Get this awesome palette (Glinda) for just $24.00.  Unfortunately the Theodora palette is sold old but if you haven't had the opportunity to get them, get it now.  Since they are Limited Edition - get it at this price while you can.  I may consider just buying another one (because we all know Honey loves her purple).  The Glinda palette comes with four full sized shadows, 2 - duo shadows, a deluxe sample (I believe that's what they call it) of the Urban Decay 24/7 liner and a lip pencil (which I love).  All of this for $24.00 and not to mention the packaging... LOVE!  Get yours today at Urbandecay.com

Happy Halloween loves.  I have been thinking about my Halloween makeup tutorials for a month now and I accomplished two of them and decided I would remake my Leopard Halloween tutorial that I did in 2011 but add a little more detail to it.  Of course, I have improved in drawing my leopard print spots as well. lmao.  For this look I wanted it to be easy to create so that you could do this on the fly and still run out for your Halloween festivities.  I think I'll be rocking out something similar this Halloween when I take the boys trick or treating.  Be sure to scroll to the bottom to watch the embedded video tutorial to create this look or click here to watch it directly on YouTube.

STYLE & FASHION: To style this look I used a black off the shoulder (slashed) top that I had and a pair of black pants (I'm sorry I didn't take a photo of my whole outfit).  I decided to keep on my regular earrings since the wig I had on pretty much covered my ears.  For the neck piece I chose a gorgeous Claudette Necklace in antique gold ($17USD) from Shoplately and Glint & Gleam.  It is so "Old World" and screams "Queen" so I knew that it would be an awesome piece for this look.

Don't forget - if you haven't signed up for Shoplately already, definitely do so using your Facebook account and get a $5.00 shopping credit. :)

To complete the entire look, I added a chocolate brown wig with bangs (because I thought it gave it all a very sexy look and some leopard ears.  Leopard ears are easiest to find this time of year, so keep your eyes out for them to complete your look.  If you can't find them, don't worry - making them is pretty easy with paper and a headband.

I wanted the makeup to be smokey and sexy.  I used the following products to complete the look:

  • Face Primer - Laura Geller Spackle
  • Foundation - L'Oreal True Match Liquid Foundation Caramel Beige
  • Bronzer / Shimmer - Wet n Wild Color icon Bronzer in Ticket to Brazil (739)
  • Matte Bronzer - Wet n Wild Color Icon Bronzer in Goddess
  • Blush - Wet n Wild Color Icon Blush in Mellow Wine
  • Highlight - Laura Geller Baked Highlighter - Vanilla
  • Eye Primer - Too Faced Shadow Insurance
  • Base Color Primer - Maybelline Color Tattoo - Bold Gold
  • Eye shadows - Wet n Wild Color Icon Sparkle 'Til Morning Palette (Bronze eyelid color, Burnt Orange Crease color, Deep brown Definer color and golden shimmery browbone color)
  • Eyeliner - Jordana 12 Hour Liquid Eyeliner Pencil in Black (tightline/waterline), Jordana Bold Fabuliner in Black (upper/lower lash line and to create the lines on the spots)
  • Nose - Jordana 12 Hour Liquid Eyeliner Pencil in Black
  • Lips - Milani Colorstatement lip pencil in True Red, Milani Lipstick in Black Cherry and Jordana Pencil liner to create the black definition

  • Eye brows - Chela Brow definer

In my most recent Friday Favorites video - I stated that a favorite lip combination for me last week was the following products:  Milani Color Statement lip liners in True Red and Fuchsia and Milani Color Statement Lipstick in Naturally Chic.  Pairing them together would probably not be the normal choice for some, but playing around with my lipsticks last week had me come up with the following lip combination which I am completely in love with.
Picture
To create this lip look - I first line my lips completely with Milani's Fuchsia lip liner.  Then I apply Naturally Chic lipstick (Milani) all over the lips in a medium coat.  Since Milani's color statement lipsticks are so creamy and highly pigmented, you really only need one sweep over your lips to apply the color.  Once that's done, I take True Red lip liner and use it to slightly color in the outer corners of my lips, blending inward towards my pout and fullness of my lips.  If you need to, you can also use a lip brush to blend the colors effortless.    Use your lips like (matte), or apply your favorite gloss over.
Picture
My eyeliner of choice for this look was the Kat Von D Tattoo Eyeliner.  I really really love the brush on this liner and it has been super easy to create winged eyeliner looks with it.  Furthermore, it doesn't budge all day which I absolutely love.    To line my waterline/tightline I used my Jordana 12 Hour Made to Last Liquid Eyeliner Pencil in Espresso Last.  You can certainly just wear the top winged liner, but I like to use a brown liner to tight line because it helps to make my lashes look a little fuller and the dark brown doesn't make my eyes look completely lined.  I apply the liner in my waterline and since it is brown, it only gives the subtle look of having a liner there.   If you haven't tried these Jordana liners (newly released) definitely check them out - they are awesome.
Picture
For mascara, I went with one that is starting to really grow on me and become a favorite.  It is the Elizabeth Mott It's So Big Mascara.  I am using the deluxe sample size, though I'll be running out very soon.  When I first started using it - I really wasn't sure about the formulation.  But after using it for the last couple of weeks, it is becoming a favorite of mine.  It takes a little finesse to get it to work, but once you do - it's pretty awesome.
Picture
If you haven't had the chance to watch it yet - check out my Friday Favorites from last week.  The Kat Von D Tattoo Liner and Milani lippies are featured in last week's favorites as well as a few others.  So check it out... watch the embedded video below or click here to watch directly on YouTube.  I am using this makeup look in that video.

Those closest to me know that Gemstones, crystals and natural works of art have stolen my heart years ago.  I have quite an extensive collection of tumbled stones, crystals and gems and have even gotten my son into collecting them (his collection is even larger than mine).  I especially love to wear these pieces of Art on jewelry because they  many of them have healing powers that help with your well being.  Now - I know that not many people believe in things like that... but just think about it, these stones come from the Earth - our Earth provides for us the nutrients our body needs.  From Amethyst to Crystal and ever single other stone in between, I wear these pieces proudly.
The herkimer diamond (pictured) is a natural quartz mineral stone that was handcrafted into a pendant / jewelry piece.  While it's hard to see in most images, the stone has a natural sparkle to it that really gives it that "diamond" look and feel.  What I love about these is that they are such a raw looking piece that you can pair it with a casual wardrobe or dress it up for a night on the town - it will go with anything.
The pendant hangs from an 18 inch 14K gold fill chain.  I tend to lean more towards those that are made in similar elements to themselves because my skin can be sensitive often and since I use this piece often, I love how with a little care, it will last me a really long time with little to no tarnishing.  I love to pair this necklace with a nice black blouse (or white), jeans and simple makeup.  I would certainly use this with a pretty little black dress as well for a date night on the town.  In this case, I'm using a gorgeous true red lipstick and eyeliner/mascara, a black scoop neck top and a pair of cargo shorts, which allows the piece to also stand as a focal point in my entire ensemble.
This pendant is not only a limited piece from FriedaSophie / Shoplately, but it is absolutely timeless.  I will find myself reaching for it in years to come and I absolutely am in love with how simple the piece is yet, definitely eye catching.

Get yours today for just $45.00.  ( A steal for a piece that is made so beautifully) Each piece is handcrafted and made to order so if you would like something different, message FriedaSophie to inquire about it.

I received the Elizabeth Mott It's So Big Volumizing Mascara in my September Ipsy Bag.  As most of you know - I am a mascara junkie and probably have anywhere from 7 - 15 mascaras in my makeup stash at any given time (honestly, probably more).  Since I have such short lashes, I am always looking for a mascara that will not only give me awesome length but volume and of course, holding my curl is definitely a huge plus to give my lashes the look of length.

At first trial with the mascara, I found it a bit difficult to work with.  I later figured out that the actual formulation dries very quickly.  While that is not necessarily a bad thing, it may be a bit tricky for some to work with.  I like to build my mascara on my lashes, so it took a little bit of finese to really get it to work.

Picture
Once I had the opportunity to really figure out it's use -  it worked really well for me.  The brush is awesome and it really does help to contribute to great curl.  The mascara is just $19.99 for the full sized tube (10 ml) and comes in black.  You can order it directly from the Elizabeth Mott website or you can search the site to see if a store near your carries the item.

While I have heard of Elizabeth Mott products before (I'm a huge fan of the Lash card for myself and clients), I never tried the mascara so it was awesome that I had the opportunity to give it a whirl.  I have been using it daily and in fact will need to pick up a new tube since my sample is just about gone.  Please check out my video review below or watch it directly on YouTube.

In each photo above I am using the Elizabeth Mott It's So Big Mascara :)

It's no secret that I have been inspired in one time or another by singers like Billie Holiday, Etta James, Aretha Franklin, Mary Wells, Petula Clark, Skeeter Davis and Doris Day (just to name a few).  The ones named sing some of my most favorite songs and I grew up around listening to their music.  So when I was in search for an iconic look that I could recreate... I thought back to the looks from those common eras.  What stood out to me most was Billie Holiday's flawless, effortless looks.
To create this look, I knew I had to use a glamorous approach to it.  A simple blend of neutrals with a cat eye and a bold lip is what I knew would be best to pull it off.  Of course, I needed to add some gorgeous florals and some kick ass accessories to complete the look.
My flowers were purchased from a small boutique in Washington DC, I can't remember the name, but they are handmade and absolutely breathtaking.  For my jewelry - I used my simple Pearl necklace from Forever21 and gorgeous White Rose stud earrings set in a gold base from Shoplately(Glint & Gleam $4.00).  Pearls are a timeless piece and give such a look class.  Paired with these very classy studs - you have a winning look no matter how you want to wear them.
Products used to create the makeup look:

  • Benefit They're Real Mascara & Elizabeth Mott It's So Big Mascara
  • Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette
  • Jordana BOLD Fabuliner
  • Too Faced Shadow Insurance
  • NYX Single Eyeshadow in
  • Milani Lipstick in Sangria and Fuchsia Lip liner
I hope you enjoyed this inspired look.  While it was simple, it definitely was awesome to be able to put it together.  Please check out the list of products used and don't forget to stop by Shoplately to pick up a pair of earrings or other accessories to complete your look too.

Hi Loves... This is my Sugar Skull Makeup Tutorial.  It is my second time creating a look like this, the first was last year and while last years came out okay, I wasn't completely happy with it.  This year I chose to pick colors that I love like Purple (of course) and Teal.  I thought it would be awesome together.  The look itself is easy to create, but it did take me a while to complete because I stopped and did all kinds of things while doing the look.  If you want to see how I created this please check out the embedded video below or click here to watch it directly on YouTube.

Reduce Wrinkles, Puffiness and Dark Circles?
With every single homemade remedy in the book, trust me when I say that I have tried them ALL.  While many of them do certainly work and work well, I am always seeking out new products to test out and see if they will work with my very finicky skin.  Recently I was sent this Age Corrective Eye Cream ($89 USD) from Resvology as a part of the Brand Backer Campaign.  I have heard of the company Resvology before and have wondered about their products.  Often times we can't help but wonder if a product truly works just because it is endorsed or backed by a Celebrity, which Resvology products are.

Winner of both the 2013 HBA Global New Product Showcase “People’s Choice Award’ AND the HBA Global 2013 ‘The Best of SPLASH! 2013’ Award!
In this day and age, skin care products - especially those claiming that they will reduce wrinkles, are far and plenty on shelves and websites so seeing how much the product cost was initially had me excited, knowing that many skincare products with a pricier cost did actually do the job well.  Packaging is super sleek and very easy to use.  The pump dispenser allows just the right amount of product without the worry of pushing too hard and wasting what comes out.

Applying the product is easy.  It is a cream like consistency and one small pump will produce a great pea sized amount of product that you can use for both eye areas.  I applied it using my ring finger (which I advise in any situation when applying anything near the eye) and allowed the product to soak in.

I naturally have watery and sensitive eyes, so while it didn't burn my eyes per say... it did make my eyes tear a bit.  The Age Corrective Eye Cream doesn't have a smell that I could get any hint of, which was awesome for me since my husband is very smell sensitive.  As most of you know, I do have Eczema and it did not cause any flare ups or issues with that as well - which is great for my very sensitive skin.

BEFORE - This photo was taken the day before I started using Resvology Age Corrective Eye Cream
Picture
AFTER - This photo was taken 6 days after I started using Resvology Age Corrective Eye Cream
The photos above are of me Before and After using Resvology.  I did not have a very lengthy time to test out the products - those of you that follow my Blog and YouTube know that I like to test out skincare related products for several weeks before giving my opinion, but I was amazed at how quickly I seen results.

The left photo was taken with my Nikon DSLR.  The only image editing that was done was a slight brightening of the photo because lighting was not ideal on this day.  I did not retouch my skin in anyway.  As you can see from this photo - I did have puffiness under my eyes as well as very prominent eye wrinkles.

The photo on the right was taken using my Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Camera.  The only image editing I did was once again, brightening the photo since I took this image in my car.  I did not retouch my skin in anyway and the only makeup I am  using is my eye shadow, liner and mascara as well as lipstick.  It is very visible in the second (right) photo that my wrinkles did slightly diminish and my under eye puffiness has just about disappeared.  Now, some may argue that it is because I got a good nights sleep, but... those that follow my blog know that that is never ever the case. lol  Most of my photos will have some form of puffiness since sleep has never been my strong suit.

How to use: Gently pat around the eye area in a circular motion with ring fingers, morning and night.

So... let's do my normal "sum-it-all-up" and Sparkle rating.  Is this product worth it's pretty hefty price tag?  Well, what do you think?  You have seen my photos... do you see a difference?  I definitely see a difference in how I look.  While the wrinkles around my eye area do come with age and in all honestly, no matter the preventative care (trust me I have done many of them), it sometimes just cannot be avoided.  I have seen how they have lightened and are not as prominent as before and my under eye area seems a little softer and more supple then it had been.  I have also noticed the reduction of dark circles that I do get often with my lack of sleep.  While paying such a high price for a product with just 0.5 FL OZ / 15 ML is a bit drastic, I will say that it is an investment and a little of the product goes a long way - so you definitely will get your use out of it.   Look at it this way... would you like to hold on to your youth for a few more years? Well, if that is the case, then this product just may assist you with that.  Would I purchase the product prior to testing it out?  Probably not... because like I mentioned previously, you never know which Celebrity is truly telling the truth.  But, now that I have used the product, will I buy it to keep up with the regimen?  Hmmmm.... That's a good question.  I am still in the early stages of using this product and still trying to figure out how it will improve my skincare regimen for long term, but purchasing this product once I run out definitely has crossed my mind.   It is working well since I have started using it and I think it would be an awesome addition to my skin care arsenal.

I am a sucker for smoky eyes.  And, I especially love it during the Fall and Winter months because it just adds drama to any outfit.  But, what I truly love about wearing smoky eyes during Fall and Winter is that you can pair it with rich, deep, berry lips and it will absolutely stop traffic.
I created this look because later that day (in the evening honestly) we were going to the County Fair that only happens once a year.  I wanted something that would last all day and that I could use from Day to Night.  Honestly, I had this look on from about 10am to about 11am.  If you want to see my Makeup Removal routine and one of my night time skin care routines, you can check out that video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UPLvzfG2GWQ  I was actually using this makeup look on that night when I filmed that video.

Hi Loves... I hope you are all having a fabulous start to your week.  My Monday's are always crazy but productive which makes the psychotic of it all kind of disappear.
Yesterday my sissy Harmony and I had a girls' day at the Spa.  Needless to say, it was a great time for us to not only catch up but unwind and just enjoy our sisterly time together.  Unfortunately, we were missing one of our sisters but we had lots of fun nonetheless.

While there, I posed for a few shots and my sissy was my photographer.
I think she captured the look I was going for quite well.  What do you think? :)
While I would love to experience snow and cold air this time of year others, here in Hawaii... we never have a weather change to reflect the season.  It can be a bit of a bummer sometimes, but walking through these gardens at the Grand Wailea Resort by Waldorf Astoria yesterday and seeing all the flora and fauna reminded me that I am lucky to live in Hawaii where floras grow year round.
I thought this look would be edgy and kind of tomboy-ish like I am... but have a classy and chic look with a feminine flare.  Let's face it, as girly as I am, I really still have all my tomboy roots and they do like to
make an entrance sometimes. lol  Plaid is a huge trend this Fall and Winter Season and while it's easy to find them in stores, especially in the men's section - it can be hard to find it in plus size that is tailored well to fit all of my curves.  I'm glad that I was able to find this black & white plaid button up... I love it.  Thanks so my sister for the gift.

I was pretty surprised with myself when I decided to take the plunge and actually pick up a turban... or two for that matter.  But, I'm glad that I did.  It is not something I ever pictured myself wearing, but I thought it would be so sultry and perfect for Fall and Winter Seasons so I decided to get some.

Now that I have - I LOVE them and will be picking up more.   What do you think?  Have you used a turban before?  And, what are your thoughts on them?  I honestly think that they will be a timeless trend.  I don't know how I have lived without them for so long.
I purchased my Turban from my Go-To accessories website (and now apparel too) - Shoplately.  When I say they have everything you need to Style for every single season - I am definitely not exaggerating.  From Jewelry and Scarves, Handbags and Footwear and now Clothing... it is a One-Stop Shop for all your girlie and Fashion needs.

This particular turban that I am rocking out was just $10.00 and is a gorgeous "feel good" black velvet.  After having a brief discussion with the owner of the shop I got this from,  Kristen Perry Accessories told me that most of their products are "Made to order" which is awesome.  The craftmanship is fabulous and it is so comfortable on my head.  I was a bit worried, because I have a larger head then most people do, but was very happy to find that it fit me perfectly and it is such a show stopper piece.  Every where I went, people were stopping me and asking me where I got it.
Now, if you don't already have a ShopLately account... click on the link and sign up using your Facebook Account.  Once you do that - you will receive a $5.00 shopping credit.  It is a great way for you to try out a product and see how you like the shopping experience and so much more.  But, trust me... you will love it and be an addict just like me - I'm on that site daily if I have time. #majoraddict. lol

Style your favorite accessories effortless and choose out awesome additions to your wardrobe.  Looking to get a turban?  These are so easy to style, I pair them with a cute top or tank, a pair of jeans or a long maxi skirt and I'm good to go.  You can also pick these up to style up a very easy Halloween Costume.  Add some hoops and some rich smoky eyes and dark lips along with some awesome statement jewelry and rock out a Gypsy Look.
Now for the Makeup... for today's Makeup I used my Kat Von D Spellbound Palette for the first time.  Here is the list of products I used to create my makeup look:

Primer:  Too Faced Shadow Insurance
Eye shadows:  Kat Von D Spellbound Palette (hexagram, galore, cry later, countess and dark throne)
Eye liner:  Jordana Cosmetics 24 Hour Liquid Eye Liner Pencil
Mascara:  L'Oreal Voluminous Carbon Black Mascara - waterproof and Elizabeth Mott It's So Big Volumizing Mascara
Lips:  Milani Cosmetics Chilled Brandy Lipstick and Cocoa Lip liner
Brows:  Mary Kay brow pencil and brow set gel
Wishing you all a wonderful week!

I'm a bit late with posting my Friday Favorites this week.  So much so... that I'm posting it on a Sunday. lol  I did have it uploaded but the audio was completely weird... so I had to re-edit and reupload again today, instead of on Saturday like I had planned.

Anywho - I hope you guys enjoy it... I feature a couple of new products that I tried out this week.  Have a wonderful week.  And, if you can't view the embedded video - click here to watch on YouTube.

In May of this year - I was sent some products from My Natural Addiction - now named Aloha Nani.  Aloha Nani is run, owned and operated by Breanna Hamilton, a young Indie Business owner who makes products like Eye Shadows and skin care items.  The item I received was the Juju Cream.  It was suggested to me by Breanna because she had watched one of my videos where I mentioned that I had eczema and that I used Organic Virgin Unrefined Coconut Oil as my Moisturizer to keep my face looking well and eczema at bay.

My original review of the product was fairly positive.  There were a few things that did not work for me, but at the same time, as I mentioned in my video - I have very sensitive skin and my skin is very finicky when it comes to certain products.  Even if the product is all natural, I can sometimes have a reaction I was not expecting.  It's a problem I do regret having because I truly have to be selective when shopping for bath & body products.  That's why I chose coconut oil and have really been using it consistently for the last year and a half.  I have even had to change up my skincare routine - you can read about that here: http://www.honeygirlsworld.com/1/post/2013/06/the-proof-is-in-the-photos-the-results-in-changing-up-my-skincare-routine.html

The Day before I applied the Cream
If I do not get a bad reaction from a product, I may discontinue using it for a little while and take up using it again after a month or so or a few months.  I did so with this product (the Juju Cream) because it is "Cooler Weather" season here and it's when my skin always needs much more moisture than normal.  Since I had last tried the product in May - I figured it would be a great time to try out the product in a different season to see if it would work for me.

The product still did not have any scent (as I stated in my original review), but that was not a problem.  It still had it's nice thick consistency I like and I lathered it on my face the day after the photo above was taken.  I used this photo to provide a comparison between what my face looked like prior to applying the cream.  The photo above was taken about 24 hours before I applied Aloha Nani's Juju Cream.  The image was taken with my camera phone in my car.
The photo above was also taken the day before the cream was applied.  I took this in the same area as I took my "after the cream" photos and it was also taken with my camera phone.  Now - some may argue that I have foundation on... but if you have been following me a while, you will know I do not use it.  Thanks to a very good skincare routine and eliminating most face makeup products, my skin has really been pretty awesome lately.

after applying the cream
The photos above are taken after I applied the cream.  I used my camera phone to take these photos as well, but as you can see - the lighting is a tad bit different because I took the image in a different area.  I applied the cream in the early afternoon and noticed less than an hour later that my skin felt like it was itchy.  I monitored my face to find that after a few hours, my eczema was starting to flare up.  I instantly washed my face and applied my coconut oil (which is my daily moisturizer) to my face.  While my Eczema flare up was still prominent - within 3 days it had cleared up pretty much completely.   My skin is still a bit sensitive but for the most part - it is gone.

I know I have sensitive skin, which is why I ALWAYS try my best to try out a product for skincare through different seasons of the year.  It will allow me to really figure out whether or not a product works well for me or if it only works in certain seasons.  Prior to trying out the Aloha Nani Juju Cream, I had not changed up or added any new products to my skincare routine - so it lead me to think that the cream had been the reason for the flare up.   It was the only thing that I had changed up in a while and the reaction and itchy feeling I was getting happened very quickly after application.

I think the Juju Cream from Aloha Nani may be awesome for many - but unfortunately, after trying the product again, it is not something I will be using.  I just can't have my skin break out like this, it takes so much to get it back into order because the flare up causes redness and almost like a rash that winds up turning my skin scaly and very very unattractive.  It takes a few days before it is soft and equally toned once again.   Unfortunately the product is just not for me.  While I do attribute most of it to my sensitive skin, I would not use the product again.

I had been asked a few times by Subscribers and Readers why I had not started on my Halloween Makeup tutorials and this is the reason.   I haven't worn any makeup in a week honestly, because I didn't want it to trigger any more reactions and delay my Halloween Makeup Tutorials any longer.

Aloha Nani offers a wide range of products on the site and you may quite possibly find one that suits your perfectly.  Just because I have a reaction to a product, does not mean that it will not work wonders for other people.  This is just my experience and opinion and I wanted to follow up my original review with my findings.

You can find my original review here on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TsQz_QqDjKw.  You can read my blog post on this review here: http://www.honeygirlsworld.com/1/post/2013/05/my-natural-addiction-juju-cream-review.html

Have a great weekend!

I have been wanting to get this post up for a few days now, seeing as I rolled out this Giveaway on Monday (Sept. 30th).  But, life happens and I just didn't have the time.  A few days ago, I was cleaning out my old makeup and rotating to the makeup I would like to use for fall and that meant cleaning my lippy drawer.  While doing so, I figured out the giveaway I have been wanting to do for a while now.   Lippies... especially lipsticks, are a favorite of mine and as you can see below, I love them.  So to celebrate fall and to just have a giveaway, I decided to roll out #Honeyslippygiveaway.
The Rules are Simple and easy...
Take a photo or video of your lippy collection and post it to Instagram OR My Facebook Page (Links below).
In order to qualify - you must hash tag your photo/video with: #honeyslippygiveaway

Tip:  To bump up this look even more... concentrate a deep dark shade (like a matte black) on the outer corner of the eye until you get the perfect dramatic look you are trying to achieve.  I wanted this look to be semi-dramatic but wearable, so I opted to blend the colors for an effortless look that still gave a lot of drama to the eyes.

Looking for an even more dramatic look?  Line your upper lash line with a gel or liquid liner and wing it out at the corner of the eye to create a cat eye affect and a very dramatic smoky look.

Not into dark lips?  Well - easily create the eye look and use a nice nude lip color or a soft nude pink to create a show stopping look without too much drama.  Have fun with this - it's a great look for date night, so play up those eyes and lips for a gorgeous look.
