Meet Elle.  Let me start by saying that I do not own this beautiful pair... but it is definitely on my wish list. What I love about this gorgeous pair of platformed sling backs is that the bright bold colors can be worn through the summer months and into the beginning of Fall.  This is the epitome of Salsa/Tango sandals and I absolutely love them.
You can get this beauty at ShoeDazzle.com for $39.95 with free shipping - if you don't live in Hawaii, of course.  This is definitely a pair you want to get your hands on. ;)

If you have been following me a while - you know that my signature is the "Pop of Color" on the lower lash line.  My favorite colors of choice happen to be teal or purple.  Today I wanted to go very simple because I was going to be spending the day grocery shopping and shopping for house hold supplies.  While I wanted it to be simple - I still wanted to be eye appealing. lol
The photos are a little more blurry then I would like as I took these shots with my phone... but I wanted to share today's FOTD regardless.  Here are the products I used:

I used a light application of ICC's Chocolate Kisses quad all over the lid to the brow bone.  I used the quad colors (all 4 of them) and just blended them out.  This was to give my eyes a pop of color without a heavy application.   I did not use any primer or base. ICC's Gel eyeliner in Black Out on upper lash line and waterline, ICC's Epik Mineral Eye Shadow worn wet as eye liner on my lower lash line, and ICC's bullet lipstick in Bubblegum.  If you want to keep your Mineral Eye Shadow liner lasting all day... apply it on a waterproof based formula like a waterproof eye liner. I applied ICC's Gel eyeliner in Black Out on my lower lash line as well and applied Epik on top wet first and then dry to set the liner/color in place.

The Earrings that I'm wearing today are the Woven hoops in Mint/Black by ICC

Hope you liked this simple look.  If you would like a tutorial - just let me know.  I'm planning to do a series of 5 Minute Makeup Looks soon - so stay tuned.

I originally filmed this video on 4/9/12.  I had tried to upload it but I lost it in a folder on my computer and didn't know where it went.  I just uploaded it last night. Here's the beginning and I'll be posted something today or tomorrow on where I am now. ;) xoxo Honey

Now - let's get this straight... there is no strolling for me while my hubby is at work and the kiddos are enjoying their Saturday night playing video games - but it was such a beautiful night and the moon (Mahina in Hawaiian) was absolutely gorgeous.  I wish I had a little longer to get ready for it - but I quickly snapped a photo in hopes to get the moon in just the right place.  It seemed to work out pretty nice.
These photos were taken from my drive-way.  They were taken just a few minutes after 8pm and I was glad to have had the opportunity to catch it.  The photo above was taken with my Nikon.  The photo below was taken with the camera on my cell.

What made it so much more exciting was that my eldest was right beside me as we witnessed it.  He talked to me about the moon, stars and planets.  He was truly excited to be witnessing the awesome moon tonight too.  Just as I was finishing up taking my last photo - the clouds covered the moon once again and it was gone as quickly as it arrived.  I hope all of you had the opportunity to catch it.
Sweet Dreams Everyone and Goodnight Moon!  xoxo Honey

It was an awesome privilege to be able to do another review for Candycolorlenses.com.  It is my favorite and go-to website to purchase all of my colored and theatrical lenses.  Their customer service is #1 in my book and I truly do enjoy the contacts I receive.  Not to mention - their shipping is fast and affordable.

Those of you that have been following me this past year have heard me rave about this company.  There is another company located overseas that also sells contacts - but they have been known to give Candy Color Lenses a bad reputation.  Needless to say - if you have heard bad things about the company, I can pretty much guarantee that it is the company that is located overseas - not the one that is in the U.S.
I have done another video showcasing these contacts and have embedded it below.  I am a huge fan of contact lenses - though the blue ones I did receive are a little brighter for my normal every day routine.  I am totally loving them however and am glad I had the opportunity to try them out.  Check out candycolorlenses.com and use CODE: DESTNE146 on your order of $20 or more for a 10% discount.  I promise you - you won't be sorry :)

Hey hunnies, dolls, babycakes... you name it - that's you! ;) I have been asked time and time again about providing a series of makeup tips for my readers and viewers on YouTube.  I haven't had the chance to do so in such a long time - but since I have been a lot more active with my blog and uploading videos a lot more frequently - I will try to post at least one a week.

These little tips are ones that I have gained over the years in the field as well as those that I have learned from my various Certifications and classes that I have taken.  Though you are welcome to chime in if what I tell you is different from what you learned - a lot of these tips have been told to me from those that I have worked under or books I have read as well as the many classes and courses I have taken.   Though many do not know it - I have worked as a freelance makeup artist for over 8 years. In that time frame I have Freelanced and worked at Makeup counters/free standing stores like Iman and MAC.  Though I consider makeup application a form of art - I do my best to ensure that whom ever I am applying makeup to (including myself) feels as good as I think they look (before makeup).  Besides I-Candy Couture (which opened last year this time), I have been a Professional Wedding & Portrait Photographer and I have also been Photographing Brides and applying their makeup for years... so it is great to be able to share some of my information with all of you.  I will look at my tips and provide them with different aspects from my experience in Makeup Artistry to tips that include my Photography as well.  I hope this will help those of you that are either beginning or
those that are looking to enhance your craft.

I will be posting videos when I have extra time that will include these tips - so stay tuned for those. :)
This week's Makeup Tip:  Applying Eye Shadow on Green Eyes

*The photo depicting the eye color will also have an eye makeup look that will work well with the eye shade.

Let me start out by saying that it is a common misconception that if you use an eye shadow that matches your eye color, that you automatically will have the perfect eye makeup look.  Though this can certainly be subject for argument... I've been taught that you should never match your eye shadow with the color of your eyes unless you have grey eyes.

Green eyes are naturally bright and many times can change in hue depending on the clothing you wear or the eye makeup you are sporting that day.  Warm colors like browns and bronzes, gold, plums and mauve, even deep purples and medium toned pinks work well with Green eyes and really enable to bring out the natural sparkle that green eyes have.  Deep greens, peaches and apricots are also great choices for green eyes.  These colors are natural choices because they are on the opposite side of the color wheel and they will definitely brighten and bring out the whites of your eyes.  When doing bridal or portrait makeup - these color choices are definitely my favorites for green eyes because the camera loves light and will be attracted to the eyes naturally if the eye makeup colors selected are chosen appropriately.

My Favorite I-Candy Couture Mineral Eye Shadow Choices for Primary colors on Green eyes would be:  3 Wishes, Gingerbread, Where I've Been, Breaking Dawn, Sincerely, Forever, Roselani, Hawaiian Hunny, Maui, Lucky Jade, Remix, Peaches & Creme and Golden Beauty.

Light Apricot colors or taupes are great choices for Highlights on the brow. Even Light Beige colors or creamy peach colors work well too, but ultimately it will all depend on the color you are using in your crease.  You could definitely use a shimmery white highlight but ensure that you blend it out so that it doesn't look too white and looks more natural or skin toned once blended.

My Favorite I-Candy Couture Mineral Eye Shadow Choices for Highlight colors on Green eyes would be:  Peaches & Creme, Golden Beauty and Hawaii Maiden.

My best advice to someone with Green eyes is to avoid using cool toned colors like Blues, whites, any type of pastels and bright silvers.  This can often give you a washed out look.  If you really want to rock these colors - try choosing colors that have a duo chrome effect to them and ensure that the secondary color is one of the primary suggested colors I mentioned above.  This will help to increase the green in your eyes by still allowing you to rock the shades of your choice.

An example of this would be Maui form ICC.  Though it is a Bluish/Teal shade - you could pull this off because it has dark/deep green tones through out.

Now let's talk about eye liner.  My favorite choice for green eyes is black and a plum purple.  I love to tight line and line the waterline with a deep/dark black liner.  Then to really bring out the eyes - I would use a plum purple on the lash line (upper and lower).  Golden browns, deep rich browns and even a steel or slate gray would work really well too.  For mascara - my favorite is always black, but a dark plum purple
would also make those peepers sparkle like crazy.

At the end of the day as I always mention time and time again, makeup is about self expression.  Though there truly is no right or wrong about it... there are guidelines that we can all use and incorporate into our makeup routines that will definitely make a statement and add a little sparkle in our lives.  Stay tuned for more makeup tips coming your way.  I hope you liked this one :)

So - I get a ton of questions about my hair and how come I change it up so frequently.  First - I'll start off by saying that genetically... I'm kind of destined for the gray hair gene pool.  My dad naturally started to gray early (though he will say that I partially caused most of it) and my mom also started popping out grays at a pretty young age.  Needless to say - my Hawaiian and Filipino ancestry is known for early gray hair syndrome (or at least that's what I call it).  I do have pretty good hair - considering the amount of damage I have done to it in the last 15 years - I still have a ton of it left (crosses fingers and knocks on wood. lol).

Last year I came across this dye called Splat at Walgreens.  Let me start by saying that I truly was amazed at how awesome this product was.  My bright red lasted me 6 months and it stayed as vibrant as it was the first day I colored it with little to no maintenance.  As a busy mom - that was so awesome - I was completely in love.  But - that was after I had colored it because it stained everything.  Even if I had on a heavy coat of vaseline on my hair line, ears and everything else - it was brutally stained.  My bath tub took almost 2 weeks to get the stain out and my bathroom door still has some significant damage.  My bathroom looked like a murder was committed in there... it truly was terrible.  After all of that had disappeared, I was able to use the color for months without using any special products to keep the dye vibrant.  I thought... "OMG - this was seriously awesome!"  But it was also a downfall because when I had gotten tired of the red color, I couldn't do anything to get it out... it was like it was stuck in my hair follicle.  I tried to bleach it and the bleach just removed my brown - the red remained leaving me looking like a darn Banana Strawberry. lol Needless to say - I decided to just do an over color of brown and it worked out fine.   Below is the Splat that I used and how my hair color looked.
My Hair color from last year 2011.
Though this picture above doesn't show it's true color because it was taken in a dark area - the picture on the bottom kind of shows how bright it really was.
So - after I did the all over brown (pictured below) - after a few months I decided I missed my red hair again....
I wasn't about to go through the entire mess that I did with Splat.  Though I loved the color and how long it lasted - I surely did not want to go through that again.  So after a recommendation from my friend Mia, I went with Garnier Nutrisse Ultra Color.  What's cool about this color is that it is meant for dark colored hair - so it is supposed to be brighter on dark hair and the color shouldn't get faded out like normal over colors do.  The box cost me $10.99 which isn't that bad - but the problem was that I needed two.  Honestly - I barely made it to cover my entire head of hair with just the two boxes.  Note to self: I better pick up 3 bottles for the next time, and I better also really find some coupons for them. lol
Okay - I will admit - the photo above really truly makes me look like I murdered someone... but I promise, it's just dye. lol I'm pretty brutal when it comes to dying my hair... I'm usually in a rush or running after one or all of my 3 sons - so it can be a bit of a challenge to dye my hair effortlessly, or neatly for that matter. lol
My Current Hair Color
This photos (above) was taken the day after I dyed my hair. The color looked a gorgeous burgundy color.  Of course - it's been almost 2 weeks and with normal washing I have lost some color.  My hair is now a little more on the reddish / orange side - lighter than a true auburn.  It still looks pretty good but it is fading a little faster than I would like.  I could do a formal review on the product in a few weeks to a month to really discuss how it is coming along.

So - all in all, I am a hair color junkie... just like makeup - I'm addicted to coloring my hair.  In my opinion - it's a form of self expression... and besides - it's our body... we should embrace it in every which way possible.

Hope you liked my little hair journey. ;) I'll surely be posting more of these.

xoxo
